New Format

I will be changing up the entire format and posting schedule of this blog this week.

I will still be critiquing user submitted blogs. . .but instead of having a ‘user submitted blog’ reviewed Monday through Friday. This will be dropping to 2 days a week(Saturdays and Sundays).

Another thing I will be doing is actively pursuing blogs to critique. I want to do this twice a week as well. . .I’m thinking about Mondays and Tuesdays for these posts.

The ‘Weekly Polls’ will continue. . .but I think I’ll move this to Wednesday. . .and Thursday I will leave for the weekly ‘Blog Tips’.

Friday will be taken off.

I think this will do better for the blog over-all. It will be nice to get a mix of high profile blogs and low profile blog critiques here.

jules dot ca

Car Design Fetish

Car Design Fetish looks to be a blog about Car Designs. . .showing pictures of specific cars and highlighting the design they use.

I like the concept of this blog. There is content being posted consistently. . .and there is even a podcast developed for this blog. This blog uses images well too. They make it easy to see exactly what you’re talking about in the text of your blog post.

Expand Your About Page

It seems that the About page of blogs are often forgotten about. Earlier this week I critiqued a blog called ‘Entropia Gateway‘. . .the owner didn’t even change the default About Page.

Even today, after the critique it says. . .

This is an example of a WordPress page, you could edit this to put information about yourself or your site so readers know where you are coming from. You can create as many pages like this one or sub-pages as you like and manage all of your content inside of WordPress.

Now, without going through post after post or googling the name of the game. . .the first place I will go is to the About page. Once I get there, not only can’t I find anything about the blog(or the game), but it could also make me give up on the blog all together.

What is Success?

Different bloggers weigh certain factors above others when it comes to checking statistics.

Personally I think Daily Unique visits is the best way. . .but I also look at other things as well.

What about you?

Paul Galvin’s SharePoint Space

Paul Galvin’s SharePoint Space looks to be a personal blog for Paul Galvin, on Microsoft’s Spaces platform.

Maybe it’s the bland template. . .maybe it’s because it’s hosted on MSN Spaces. . .but this blog just isn’t doing much for me. I will say that the top widget where he put his picture and other information about himself.

Get personal with your audience. . .in normal cases it will benefit you.

Entropia Gateway

Entropia Gateway is a blog about the game ‘Entropia Universe’. . .which seems to be a game like Second Life but with a ‘real cash economy’.

I don’t know how popular this game is but it looks to be a great niche to blog about. It seems that there is regular content being posted to this blog. . .which is hard when you pick a small niche. This blog shows that there is never a niche too small(as long as you can keep coming up with good content).

Social Media World

Social Media World describes itself as a blog that. . .

explores all areas of social media, new sites and apps, news and so much more!

I like that this blog shows an ‘RSS Feed Reminder’ at the top of the page when you first visit the website. Lots of readers blog readers love to subscribe to RSS feeds and this is a great way to tell them about yours.

The Search for Redemption

The Search for Redemption looks to be a personal blog for Alex Tallitsch and his interests.

This blogger seems to be posting semi-regularly which will make your readers happy. Remember, even if you have 5 loyal readers or 50,000. . .it can be disappointing when someone goes to a blog expecting to read new content. . .and can’t.
